A Better Way to Say Thank You

Making a more memorable experience with a little effort

I have a box of scrap paper that I use whenever I need something to write on. It's full of a mix of rejected prints and white and black paper stock. These are especially useful when I'm doing flat-lays or need a studio-like backdrop. On the very top of the pile are smaller scraps of paper that I use for thank you cards. When I say thank you cards—I mean randomly cut paper that I scribble thank you notes on whenever someone purchases a product of mine.

I knew this wasn't the most professional approach to send thanks, but it made do for a good while. It wasn't that intentional and lacked the memorable experience that I wanted someone to have, so I designed and printed proper thank you cards that give a more robust unboxing experience. Yeah, the scrap paper notes were a cute touch, but it looked lazy—'cause it was. It means a lot to me whenever someone purchases a product of mine, and this is a small step to show my appreciation. And on the larger prints that ship in mailing tubes, those still get thank you notes on scrap paper. I know—I'm working on it.
